A fish heart resonates within water
A Fish Heart invites us to experience the pulsations of a fish heart as it beats within water. The recording of the heart was achieved by Dr. Alex Jordan. It is remarquable in that it was picked up by dipping a probe in water, as opposed to being in direct contact with the animal’s body. In the ocean, the heartbeats of marine species seems to propagate outside of their bodies, through the water, resounding throughout the sea. If you were an aquatic creature, you would likely perceive, at any given time, some of the hearts beating around you.
The installation reveals a mode of relation, of connection, humans cannot quite perceive
Suspended in deep dark space, a glass heart catches the light.
For a brief moment, the beating of a fish heart is our only focus.
